Current OpeningsCommunity Health Educator – PrideAlivePart–Time Legal AssistantCommunications InternSpecial Events InternCommunity Health Educator – PrideAliveResponsibilitiesMinnesota AIDS Project seeks a full–time health educator with experience in community organizing for its PrideAlive program, a peer–based community empowerment program focusing on the sexual health of gay/bi men. This position is part of a work group dedicated to stopping the HIV epidemic through education and community empowerment. Specific responsibilities include working on a team to coordinate community involvement in outreach, HIV field–based testing, educational and social networking events, print, web and electronic publishing, and community action. MAP's PrideAlive Community Health Educator will have a demonstrated commitment to MAP's mission, knowledge about HIV and gay/bi men's health, and familiarity with innovative community level health education strategies. Experience and demonstrated skills in community organizing, volunteer recruitment and/or mentoring peers is critical. HIV testing experience and knowledge and/or experience with internet outreach in gay chat rooms is a plus particularly as it relates to the health of gay/bi men. A demonstrated ability to work in an environment that requires a high degree of personal responsibility and team accountability is essential to success in this position, as is a demonstrated ability to assume the trust and confidence of men who have sex with men. HoursFull–time SalaryThe salary range is between $28,000–34,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience. Communications InternThis position will provide participants with a broad overview of non profit communications. At the end of the internship, participants will have work samples for a professional portfolio and increased their network of professional contacts in the Twin Cities. Desired QualificationsIndividual must have completed at least two years of college with a demonstrable emphasis in communications, public relations, journalism or English coursework.
