HIV Professional Development Course

This 1–day course is designed for individuals seeking an advanced training on HIV disease and information on how to provide competent and sensitive care for individuals living with HIV. This training is well suited for health and social service providers, professionals working in the HIV/STI/Hepatitis C fields, students pursuing graduate degrees in social work, public health, nursing and other human service fields.

Training topics include:

  • HIV transmission, prevention, disease progression, testing and treatment advances
  • Medical updates on viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections
  • Professional boundaries, confidentiality laws and duty-to-warn considerations for social service providers working with HIV positive clients
  • Counseling considerations for assisting clients through the HIV disclosure process
  • State and local resources for HIV prevention programs and services for those living with HIV
  • Tools for providing HIV education in group settings

The cost of this course is $75.00.
