The Minnesota House adopted the so-called stand-by custodian bill (HF3318/SF 3018) last night. The Senate approved the bill a few weeks ago. The bill would give parents coping with terminal illness an important planning tool for the future care of their children. It is particularly for parents who are living with HIV and AIDS to have a voice in the future guardianship of their children. MAP thanks Representative Darlene Luther and Senator Jane Ranum for the good work they have done at the legislature to ensure the bill's passage. It is expected that Governor Ventura will sign the bill into law once it reaches his office.
