HIV Institute: Surrendering Safely: Increasing Clinicians' Understandings of Kink

Educators, counselors, and clinicians may be uncertain of how to ask about, present, or clinically explore kink behaviors. Yet understanding a client's subjective experience of kink may be vital in meeting them where they are at. This workshop, led by Rick Laska, LICSW, CIT, of Lyn-Lake Psychotherapy and Wellness, will present original research which identifies some of the challenges, benefits, and implications Kink Aware Providers have explored with their clients. The findings suggest ways educators, counselors, and therapists can practice informed care and advocacy for this sexual minority community.

Food and beverages will be provided for attendants.
